Its all fun and games
You know the old adage, "Its all fun and games until someone loses an eye." Well that has become more true than I had hoped.
One of the teens I work with was recently struck in the eye with a rock. She had to have immediate surgery on her eye and the answer to whether or not she will regain her sight is unknown. It will be another six to eight weeks before the doctor will know the prognosis.
As a 12 year old going to school last week, she had no idea her life would change so drastically. She is not allowed to do any physical activity for the next six to eight weeks and she is already feeling the effects of not being able to do what her friends are doing.
To help her family out and help them cover the costs of trips back and forth to the hospital where the specialist is we are doing a fundraiser. This Saturday myself and some of the other teens from our youth group are going to do a walk of close to 10 miles. We will be walking from Kates house to the church. I must say physically I am not sure how I am going to do this, but I am asking the Lord for strength.
Please pray for Kate and her family. Pray for us this Saturday as we all sacrifice a little bit to make things easier for this wonderful family. My goal is to raise a minimum of $500 to give to this family.
We are praying that out of this senseless accident that God would do something special.
