Who did this? Gideon!!!

Gideon takes a step of faith and tears down the Asherah poles and the altar and of course when the Midianites see it they are ticked off, probably an understatement. Have you ever done something for God that has really made someone mad. Well sometimes what we do is offensive to somebody. The reality is when we serve God and do what He asks us to do, people might not appreciate or accept what you do. Just be sure you have heard from God.

One thing I think is sad are the kind of things people get upset about. People get upset about the strangest things: moving the pulpit, a different style of music, the color of the carpet, not feeling like they are heard , you know the important stuff. Lets be serious!!!

Well this change really made an impact. They wanted to kill Gideon when they found out he was involved. It says they carefully investigated and they were told, "Gideon did it." Little did they know it was Gideon who did it but it was God's plan. They thought they could intimidate and destroy Gideon but now Gideon had God going before him. I don't like their chances.

They tell Joash, who is Gideons father,"Bring out your son. He must die." BUT Joash had a response as well. He basically says in v.31, "If Baal is all we say he is, he doesn't need someone to fight his battles, he should be able to fight them himself."

It looks like the battle lines are being drawn. Gideon and His God vs. the god of Baal.

You and I may be facing a battle in our lives as well. The good news and the truth is that God is more powerful than any army lined up against you. God and you can defeat the enemy in your life. God and you are a strong force. God and you can.......
